This page covers links to sound and video clips of the P1800 and PP-18 amplifiers. The PP-18 was Amp Maker's original 18W amplifier kit, and it was replaced by the P1800 - which had all the tones of the original and lots more besides.

The original PP-18 sound clips are below. The 18W circuit is very dynamic - ideal for controlling crunch tone with your picking style and your guitar's Volume knobs. These clips give an idea of the PP-18's repertoire:

* Cleanish arp (305KB)
Gibson LP: both pickups. Amp: Tone 10, Volume 4, Input 1.

* Mild overdrive (419KB)
Gibson LP: both pickups. Amp: Tone 10, Volume 4, Input 1.

* Blues noodle (320KB)
Tokai Tele: bridge pickup. Amp: Tone 7, Volume 7, Input 1.

* Mild OD jangle (308KB)
Tokai Tele: neck pickup. Amp: Tone 10, Volume 4, Input 1.

* Tele blast (234KB)
Tokai Tele: bridge pickup. Amp: Tone 8, Volume 10, Input 1.

* Low crunching (267KB)
Gibson LP: both pickups. Amp: Tone 8, Volume 6, Input 1.

* Solo noodle (89KB)
Gibson LP: bridge pickup. Amp: Tone 10, Volume 10, Input 1.

* Max crunch rhythm (118KB)
Gibson LP: bridge pickup. Amp: Tone 10, Volume 10, Input 2.

* Max gain chords (218KB)
Gibson LP: bridge pickup. Amp: Tone 10, Volume 10, Input 2.

Customer clips

First up, here's Steve Burns' PP-18 in action on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/thejurassikaband

"If you get an idle moment you might be interested in hearing my 18watter in action. There are half a dozen tracks up on my bands myspace page. All recorded with a les paul straight into my PP-18."

Thanks Steve! Smile

Thanks for spreading the word! Embarassingly, I can't credit the player, as I can't match the amp or YouTube name to my emails! If it's you, please get in touch and I can give you proper credit!

George Beavis and his SL-18 playing as Los Reyez.

"I lost count of how many musicians at the gig said how great it sounded, even with an indecent amount of reverb poured all over it! Nobody believes me when I tell them it's 'only' an 18 watt amp."

Here's the reverend Craig Morrison doing his beardy best with his PP-18.

"I am very impressed and happy with the results. Here's a tune I did using it - great lead sound, even DI'd."

And here's a completely different tone and vibe from Jean Luc and his P1800. (Same amp as the PP-18 but with a few tweaks for more tonal versatility.)
