If you're looking for something better than PVC for the wiring inside your amp, consider PTFE. It's a much more modern and high-performance plastic than PVC. The #1 benefit is that amp-for-amp, it's far thinner than PVC insulated wire. (It's also far lighter, which is why it's so widely used in aerospace.)
This benefit comes from its significantly higher melting point compared to PVC. This means a wire can carry far more current before its self-heating starts to melt the insulation. In simple and practical terms, you can use a wire that's no bigger than standard 3A-rated PVC wire for currents well over 10A. That covers any application in a guitar amplifier.
Dimensions & infoThe wire is 1.5mm thick and has a silver-plated copper core conductor with 19 strands. I stock 10 commonly used colours: * Black * Blue * Brown * Green * Grey * Orange * Red * Violet * White * Yellow If you want wire to complete an amp build, you may prefer to save money by buying a pre-packaged bag of wire. This includes all of the colours of this hook-up wire, as well as PTFE shielded wire and bare hook-up wire. See PTFE wire pack for details and pricing. The price below is a per-metre figure (For North American customers, 1 metre is just over 3ft).
