Rotary switch

From 1-pole 12-way to 4-pole 3-way. Ideal for impedance selection, etc

A compact and very versatile rotary switch with solder lugs and a choice of popular pole/way combinations:
* 1-pole, 12-way
* 2-pole, 6-way
* 3-pole, 4-way
* 4-pole, 3-way
      The first decision is the number of poles you want to switch: 1, 2, 3 or 4. With that decision comes the number of positions you get: 12, 6, 4 or 3 (respectively). An adjustable stop ring lets you set the switch to fewer positions if you want. This can be a little difficult to understand if you've never used one before. For example, let's say that you want to use a switch to connect a choice of five cathode bypass caps on a preamp stage. Choose the 1-pole 12-way switch and use the first five of the twelve positions for connecting your cathode caps. This leaves you with seven unused positions. Just set the adjustable stop ring to limit your switch's rotation to the first five positions. In effect the stop ring let you create a 1-pole, 5-way switch.
      Of course, if you just want a simple three-position switch for speaker impedance selection (4, 8 or 16 ohms), it's a lot easier to choose the 4-pole 3-way switch. You can ignore the stop ring and ignore the unused poles.
      The body of the switch is 27mm in diameter, the shaft is 6mm, and it mounts via a 9.5mm hole. All switches have a long plastic shaft that you cut down to size. with a junior hacksaw or Dremel-type tool.
