Punched chassis small 1x8 and 1x9
Aluminium chassis, holes for two valves and drop-through power transformer.
This chassis is a version of the small plain aluminium chassis, but pre-punched with holes to suit Amp Maker kits and other low-power amp builds. If you don’t have metalwork tools, or the necessary skills and patience (like me), this chassis can cut your amp assembly time right down.
This chassis has been punched with a lay-down power transformer mounting hole that accepts either of the drop-through power transformers (190-0-190V and 0-190-275V). There are also mounting holes spaced to suit the 5W single-ended output transformer.
Control and other holes
The rear panel has holes punched for a combined IEC and fuseholder, an On/Off toggle switch and a speaker socket (Switchcraft-style = 9.5mm). The front panel has seven 9.5mm holes at 30mm centres. This allows for an input jack socket, five control pots and an indicator lamp, for example.
The top surface is punched with the transformer mounting holes mentioned above, plus a 22mm hole for a 9-pin socket and a larger hole for an 8-pin socket. The top surface also has four M3 mounting holes for fitting the circuit board, and several M4 holes for fixing grounding lugs.
Dimensions & info
The chassis is 254mm wide, 170mm deep, and 50mm tall. The internal dimensions are 210x167x49mm – plenty enough to accommodate typical low-power amp circuits. Check the hardware section for screws, nuts, etc and the M6 chassis-to-cabinet mounting hardware. Made in the UK.
